How to make a Blog Banner

This is a simple way to create your own blog banner. As you go on learning other photoshop tools, you will be able to create more artistic and creative blog banners of your own.

Start up your photoshop (you may use any version), and create your blog banner file. Click File, New, name your file and put the width and length of your banner, then click OK. The size of your banner depends on what template you are using. It is better to get first the size of your banner for your template before making the file. Otherwise, the size will be a trial and error thing. For this example, I will be using 1005 pixels for width and 140 pixels for the height.

This window will appear. This will be your canvas.
Choose a color from the color picker for your background. Double click on the color window, located at the right side of your screen, and the color picker will appear. After you choose a color for your background, click OK.

Look for the paint bucket tool on the left side of your screen and use it. Click the paint bucket and click it on any part of your canvas. Your canvas should now have a background color.

Now, add some photo, images, or even a simple clipart to your banner.

Click File, Open, and choose the file name of your photo/graphic. The photo/graphic will appear in its original size.

Again, change the width and height of your graphic to fit inside your banner. For this example I will be using 170 pixels width and 130pixels height.

To change size, click Images, Image Size.

After changing the size of your photo/image, place it in the banner by dragging the image using the move tool . You will not see the whole image while dragging, only a plus sign, but when you let go of the mouse in the canvas of your banner the photo/image will be there. Just make the necessary changes to the photo/image like location, and size.
Once you are satisfied where your iamge is, click any tool on the left side like the move tool and this window will appear. Click Apply.

You may add another photo on the other side of the banner or anywhere else in the canvas. Since we are just making a very simple blog banner, we will next add text to the banner put the name of the blog. Choose the color of your text by using the color picker, then click the Text Tool , and type your text. You may now save your banner by clicking File, Save As, it is better to save it as a JPEG file. You are now ready to upload your banner to your blog.
